How to seize control of the Mind you want to persuade?

A technique used by a white lawyer in closing argument for a 9-year-old black, raped girl’s father who was almost sentenced to death for killing the rapist.

In the movie ‘A Time to Kill’ a 9 year old girl was raped by two white men.

The father of this little girl had killed the rapists in open court.

Since he was black in a white-dominated court, his chances of not getting death penalty were zero.

To make things worse for the white lawyer the father of the raped girl had hired…

He admitted in front of the court that he did the killing in conscious and he knew what he was doing.

Which means the lawyer had nothing left but his final closing argument.

So what he did, he used the power of imagery or vision to walk the jury through the entire crime.

How the two men jumping out and grabbing the little girl…dragging her into a nearby field…mercilessly binding her…and then ripping her clothes off…

…Then climbing on her one at a time, drunkenly raping her, destroying her womb forever, and shattering her innocence.

Then using her as a target and throwing metal beer cans at her, tearing the flesh off her bones. Then urinating on her.

Finally putting rope around her neck and hanging her – feet and legs kicking in the air.

And then thinking she is dead, throwing her in the back of their truck and dropping her into water from 30 feet height.

The lawyer ends his argument with…

Can you see her? Her raped, beaten, broken body, soaked in their urine, soaked in their semen, soaked in her own blood — left to die.

Can you see her?

I want you to picture that little girl.

Now imagine she’s white.

It was such a powerful vision that it changed the mind of white judge and finally the father of that innocent girl was ultimately found no guilty.

I was able to understand this persuasion method by noticing something similar in Gary Halbert letters I read daily.

He had followed the similar practice. Most of his letters start with some vivid story or experience.

For example, in the letter I read today he first talked walked the readers through the ads he wrote and how they brought in unimaginable cash.

Then he linked it to his offering.

That’s what I believe is the power of making people almost feel in their heart what you wanna say.

If you succeed at doing this, you’ll have control of their minds in your hands.
